Terms and Conditions
These are the terms of business that Unique Soft Tissue Therapy (Nicola Childe) provides to you. Please make sure that you have fully read and understood them prior to booking your first appointment.
Appointment Cancellations & No Show
- Please give as much notice as possible if you need to cancel your appointment, failure to cancel with at least 24hrs notice a 50% fee for the missed appointment may be applied.
- Late attendance may result in a shorter appointment time.
- No Shows without notice will result in full charge for the appointment booked
Payments
- Treatments must be paid for in full after your treatment, before you leave that day.
- Payment can be made by Cash, Card, BACs.
Contraindications
Here is a list of common contraindications, please DISCLOSE any that apply PRIOR to your appointment. This list is not exhaustive, so if there are any other reasons that you feel may affect whether you should receive massage please include them. Massage can be very therapeutic for many medical conditions.
However, it is important that your therapist understands your condition and in some cases it is best to have advice from your Doctor - your therapist will advise whether this should be sought prior to the massage.
Please disclose ANY OTHER conditions that you feel may affect whether you should receive massage (no matter how irrelevant you feel it may be):
Total Contraindications
- Hypertension - High blood pressure
- Osteomalacia (Softening and swelling of the bones) or Rickets (childhood version)
- Muscular Dystrophy
- Meningitis, brain hemorrhage, brain tumours
- Stroke or TIA (mini stroke)
- Severe headaches or migraines
- Epilepsy
- Motor nerve disorders
- Alcohol or drug intoxication, inc’ prescription pain medication
- Diabetes
- Infectious skin conditions e.g. impetigo, ringworm, scabies, fungal infections, herpes simplex (cold sores) etc
- Respiratory conditions such as pulmonary tuberculosis, pneumonia, bronchitis, common cold, influenza,
- Heart attack, heart failure, angina.
- Arteriosclerosis, atherosclerosis
- Deep vein thrombosis (DVT)
- Neuritis (nerve inflammation)
- Recent operations or acute injuries
Local Contraindications:
- Injuries, spasms and cramps.
- Bone fractures
- Ligament sprains
- Bursitis
- Excessive spinal curvatures
- Osteoporosis
- Osteoarthritis or rheumatoid arthritis
- Fibromyalgia
- Herniated (slipped) disc
- Low back pain
- Non-contagious skin conditions e.g. acne, boils, dermatitis, eczema, hives, think skin, blisters - the affected area will be avoided during massage.
- Varicose veins
- Oedema
Suitability of Treatment
- The treatment plan will be fully explained to you following your initial assessment.
- It is your responsibility to disclose any changes to your medical history that may affect the suitability of massage.
- Sometimes small areas of bruising and sensitivity may occur (therapist will let you know during and after the treatment which areas this may be affected).
- Please understand that it is your responsibility to communicate feelings of discomfort or to request an increase/decrease in pressure if necessary - your therapist may deem it unnecessary to increase pressure, but will always decrease it with your instruction.
Liability
- We will not be liable for any financial loss or loss of personal possessions, as a result of, or in connection with the provision of services to you. We will not be liable for any damage that may be caused as a result of your failure to disclose medical details that may, for example, make treatment inappropriate.
- Unique Massage Therapy will not be liable for any muscle soreness, bruising and discoloration of the skin, following a sports massage treatment, as this is quite normal (see previous section-suitability).
Other
- Informed Consent will always be sought prior to your assessment and treatment, initially this will be in writing and subsequent treatments by verbal consent.
- You have the right to a chaperone.
- You have the right to stop the treatment at any stage, for any reason.
- Children under the age of 17 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.
- Behaviour deemed inappropriate (sexual/aggressive/intimidating) will not be tolerated, you will be asked to leave and you will be liable to pay for the treatment in full and legal action may be sought.
Insurance
- Unique Soft Tissue Therapy is fully insured and accredited to the Federation of Holistic Therapists.
